If I do a linocut etching will Heidelberg press make adequate prints?
I want to get into etching/linocut
Etching and linocuts require two different types of press – etching (intaglio) needs a high pressure to release the ink, with a linocut (relief printing), you do not need the same pressure.
Normally you will find etching presses have two heavy steel rollers with precise adjustments, a linocut press has a plate that lowers onto the bed to create even pressure over the whole lino piece.
Depending on the Heidelberg press (and they vary tremendously, the modern versions are sheetfed offset machines which are no good for either) you might be able to adapt one but the expense would be high, probably higher than buying a press intended for the job.
